City Tour Cusco Itinerary
We will pick you up from your hotel to begin the fascinating tour of the city of Cusco, capital of the Inca empire, which has a lot of history, culture and tradition, and our tour will be through the most important sites that we detail below.
Qiricancha (Temple of the Sun): Formerly the most important temple of the Inca Empire, in honor of the sun god Inti. It is famous for its exquisite Inca stone construction and later Spanish colonial architecture built over the original Inca foundations. The complex exhibits the blending of Inca religion and colonial domination
Cusco Cathedral: Located on the Plaza de Armas, this colonial-era cathedral is renowned for its magnificent history, stunning architecture, and valuable religious art, including a massive silver altar and assorted works of the Cusco School
Main Square (Plaza de Armas): Cusco's cultural and historic heart, the old central Inca Empire and Spanish colonial city center. Encircled by colonial buildings, dining establishments, and markets, it remains the vibrant hub of city life
Saqsayhuaman: A massive Inca fortress on the outskirts of Cusco, renowned for its immense megalithic stone walls built with incredible precision. It was a religious and military stronghold and gives breathtaking views of the city
Qenqo: An archaeological site with carved stone altars, labyrinthine underground corridors, and ceremonial chambers likely used for rituals and sacrifice.
Puca Pukara: Believed to have been a travelers' rest or a military outpost, this site features information regarding Inca defense systems and scenic views of the surrounding landscape
Tambomachay: The "Inca Baths," this site is composed of aqueducts, canals, and waterfalls, that are considered to have been a ceremonial complex dedicated to water worship
These sites overall provide a total impression of Cusco's rich mix of Inca heritage and Spanish colonial history, so city tour is a culturally and historically wide-ranging experience
To conclude the adventure, we will return to Cusco, where the tour concludes and we will transfer you to your hotel.
